STARTING TO GET READY,BUT JUST STARTING

The NFL teams have reported and NCAA teams are packing up and getting ready to report. I find it a bit humorous that if you listed to the "experts" they have already put out their preseason rankings and power numbers. This is funny because especially in college, we just start learning about the makeup of the teams when they actually start practicing. Some schools don't even know who will be starting at QB. To think we will know how good a team is while having to guess who will take the snaps is just ridiculous. I like to start looking at the new season about the time the teams start looking to the new season. I could guess on some of the decisions that these teams will have to make about personal but Why? I don't have to, there is plenty of time to compare match ups and injuries in the weeks to come. The NFL preseason starts this week and while I dont recommend betting on these games, they are a useful tool in deciding how good these teams will be.Late in the NFL season, due to injuries, you will see a lot of these backups that play now having to take on more important rolls with some of these teams.  BTW, if you are one of those guys that is planning on betting your hard earned money on these football games and don't view this time of year as any more than a time to get excited and open your offshore accounts, then you might think about getting signed up. If it was as easy as opening the paper and guessing which teams will win then they wouldnt offer sports betting. the next month is important for those  few of us that will be able to make money betting on the games.

They are taking sign ups for 6 year old girls soccer this fall. Some of you will be happy to learn that the Lady Cheetahs will play again and we are getting excited about the season. I have lost a few little girls due to moving and some schedule conflicts with their dance classes but for those few girls that want to try and chase down a title, we will be ready to play this fall!  Fortunately that team doesnt take near as much time to get ready for. Uniform colors and a snack list are the only preseason work I have to do.

Have a great weekend! Jack

VEGAS WEEKEND IDEAS

I was watching the Travel Channel yesterday and the show I was watching had this annoying girl that was visiting Vegas. She was talking about the fun things to do there. She mentioned the Medieval Times at the Excaliber, she talked about the roller coster on top of New York,New York. It was about this time I realized that I would rather go to Vegas for root canal than to do the things she was talking about. Dont even get me started on the food this 85lb woman was recommending.

If you are going to be visiting Vegas this year, print this entry off let The Fat Jack guide you thru Sin City.

SUGGESTION 1- Dont be afraid to spend a bit more on your room. Studies show that you will spend over 70% of your time using the stuff at your hotel. If you stay at a dump, you will spend more on cab fare than you would have paid to stay in a better place.

Try and stay at on of these places.

Venetian-All suite hotel. By far best rooms in town
Red Rock- Off strip( about 15 min) but great property, good customer service and good spa.
Wynns- Get players card, they will offer even the lower player free rooms in the summer often with free upgrade to suites.
Caesars- Best Spa in town. (I have been to them all) and theirs is the best. You dont have to stay there to go to the spa so no matter where you stay, send your wife there. You will thank me later.

Eat at these places.

Let me  first tell you that they dont call me The Fat JAck for nothing. I like to eat and pride myself on finding the best places. If you have any sense, you will try these places as I have eaten EVERYWHERE in towh and these are some solid selections.

THIS IS GOING TO SOUND WEIRD BUT BY FAR THE BEST KEPT SECRET AND THE BEST SUNDAY BRUNCH IN VEGAS IS AT BALLYS.  They dont advertise it and if you are a Diamond member you get priority seating and dont need reservations. It is in the steak house and  only on Sundays but if you get a chance it is a MUST.

Breakfast-
1. I am not a huge breakfast guy in Vegas but the Belliago buffet has a good selection and if you go around 10am you get both breakfast and lunch items for the breakfast price. The buffet has gone down hill there over the last 2 or 3 years but is still a solid selection.
2. there is a free standing place by where the Stardust use to be. I dont remember the name but just tell the cab you want to go to the good breakfast place by where the Stardust use to be.
3. the Venitians Cafe is owned and run by The Cheesecake Factory. Their breakfast service is normally bad but the food is solid. good pancakes. DONT EAT THE BREAKFAST BUFFET THERE, IT IS ASS.

Lunch-
1. Few people realize that Joes Stone Crab has a place in Caesars Forum Shops. If you go during the season( Sept thru April) it is a great way to get the same Joes food you would wait in line for on South Beach.  Pass on the Stone Crabs and get the Alaskan King Crabs. They are the size of your arm and taste great. Also, the lobster salad and the berries and cream for desert.
2. read suggestion number 1 and go to Joes.
3. If you dont like seafood try Noodles in the Belliago. They are open until 4am and have very good Chinese.

Dinner-
1. BOA in Caesars- This is a chain form Santa Monica but has great steaks and sides.
2. 9 in the Palms. Great Lobster Mashed and shores for desert. This is also a great place to go to see the stars. Lots of famous people staying at the Palms and eating at 9.
3.In N Out Burger0there is one right of of Tropicana. this is a California burger joint that offers about 6 items and all are good. If you go broke, this is a great place because you can get full for under 5.00.

Most important- No matter what your gambling plans are in Vegas. CALL AND GET MY PICKS FOR THE WEEKEND!!  This will cost you less than the price of most of these meals and if you place 50.00 on my selections you will make money and help offset the price of your trip and your bad blackjack play. Mention this blog and I will guarantee you will make money with my weekend selections or I will give you your money back. That beats the guessing you were planning on doing.

I hope you all have a great week. We are getting closer to the season as the NFL teams are reporting and preseason is around the corner. My show starts the week of 8-23. I AM READY TO GO!

BACK IN OKLAHOMA. WIPEOUT AND FOOTBALL

Well, I am back from sunny Florida. I arrived in Oklahoma around noon and it was already 95 degrees. It is funny how different parts of the country look at weather different. In Florida, the old people at the gas station were about to have a cow because it was going to be 91 today. Oklahoma is going to be almost 100 and the evening news is having an outside party at 5pm with clowns and guys in "star wars" outfits. This is not a commentary on the fact this is one of the only places with idiots dumb enough to dress up in Chubacca outfits in 100 degree heat only to get on the 5pm news, it is however interesting to see the price someone will pay to get on local TV. I cant see the ladies at the gas station dawning their Golden Girl outfits to wave at their friends if Florida.

Summer television is about to drive me crazy and I am not the only one. Along with 5.2 million viewers, I watched Wipeout with my kids the other day. This is the beginning of the end for reality shows. The producers have scraped the bottom of the reality contestant barrel and found idiots that dont care what they are asked to do, they are in as long as they can get on TV. It is very funny to watch but I am not sure I would throw a watch party to show my friends what I had to go through if I was on that show. Next, they are going to have a show where the one who can be set on fire for the longest wins the cash. They will have guys lined up to be set aflame and that will be the conclusion of reality TV.

I dont understand Bill Parcells. Spending a lot of time in Florida I have found myself pulling for the Dolphins to win. I like Wes Welker( Oklahoma boy) and when he was there I got my son interested in the team. Now, Welker is gone and the Dolphins are terrible.I was really hoping they would have a better season but I am not sure the best way to do that is to trade the heart and soul of your defense! I am beginning to think Bill Parcells is a weak stubborn guy that is past his prime. I heard his comments about Bonos botched extra point as part of the reason he quit the Cowboys. He said it was going to be too tough to get back to that point and to have something like hat happen made him want to quit. Well, I think he is A LOT further away from the playoffs with the Dolphins then he would have been if he had stayed in Dallas. To me it looks like Bill Parcels is more about Bill Parcels then he is about winning games. I am not sure if that is the kind of guy I want pulling the strings on my team.

Less than 40 days until the season and things are looking good. Remember, preseason is free to all paid clients so sign up today if you are going to be betting on the games this season. Have a good week.

DELAYED IN FLORIDA AND WATCHING THE OPEN

I was invited to play in a golf tournament here in Florida tomorrow so we decided to stay for a few extra days. I kind of need to go home and get some work done but this is a special deal and I am on top of all the things I need to get done before the fall. I am loving the Brett Farve story. He reminds me of a friend of mine that was playing in the club championship at the course I was a member of. He got really mad in the first round of the 3 day event and walked off after 13 holes. The next day he showed back up and wanted to play for day money. For most guys, walking off and quiting the event means you are done but for a select few you reserve the right to return tomorrow and play again. Brett Farve has made a habit of this.

I quit..no, Im back.  I quit....NO, Im back. Now I REALLY QUIT! No, Im actually back!
I am enjoying the show.

Speaking of golf and to put one final capper on my Vegas trip a few weeks ago.
I placed a bet on 5 golfers for the British Open in hopes to cashing a ticket while on the beach. Here are the 5 golfers I bet on..

200.00 ON STEWART CINK-MISSED THE CUT

200.00 ON A. RAMERO - MISSED THE CUT

300.00 ON JOHN DALY - SHOT 80-89 OUCH!

300.00 ON CHRIS DIMARCO - DIDNT EVEN PLAY IN THE BRITISH OPEN AND DECIDED TO PLAY IN THE GREATER MILWAUKEE OPEN. BY THE WAY HE MISSED THE CUT IN MILWAUKEE!!

MY ONLY CHANCE IS A 200.00 BET ON SCOTT VERPLANK. HE WAS +4 BEFORE SATURDAY BUT SHOT 78 ON SAT AND IS NOW 10 SHOTS BACK.

I DONT THINK I WILL BE OFFERING A GOLF PACKAGE ANYTIME SOON.

THE BASEBALL SELECTIONS ARE A DIFFERENT STORY. I am hitting 80 over the last month or so and am considering a baseball package for next spring.

Football is getting close and I am like a kid before THanksgiving!  I really enjoy the turkey! Have a good evening.

I'M GETTING OLD

Still in Florida. We have had a lot of fun and I have had some great meetings about the fall. It is always nice when the quality of my "dog and pony" show gets rewarded with a better time spot or is put on for free. I am sure I am biased but I have always thought our show is a lot better than some of the people that get paid to be on the same stations I have to pay. Some of the guys that run some of these stations are the biggest liars I have ever met. They don't care ANYTHING about the quality of the stuff they put on the air. The meetings this week have been with people that want to run the best shows they can because they know more people will listen to "good" radio which allows them to charge more to the other advertisers to be on those shows. I know that sounds simple but some cities don't see it that way, quality has nothing to do with what they put on the air.

My family and I went up to a clients/friend of mines vacation home to go skiing/tubing ect. The guy wants me to buy his 65'boat. I am trying to figure out how that would be a good idea but given my history with boats I am drawing a blank. We did have a great time, his place is on the intracoastal and the kids loved being dragged behind his smaller boat. I decided to try and water ski. Yes, water ski. I used to go skiing all the time when I was in high school. Yes, I am aware I am no longer in high school. The last time I went skiing I was 17 years old and 255 lbs. Yesterday I was 38 years old and more than 255lbs. I felt great up until the point I told them to gun the boat. I had trouble getting up and finally settled for tubing. Today, I feel like someone ran over me in a truck and then threw my sore body off a building. I told my wife that that is the type of decision that will end up putting me in a wheel chair.I am going to have to remember I am getting older and there are going to be things I shouldn't try.

On a brighter note. We are 5-0 this week and 18-5 in the last month in baseball. These are free selections to my hoops clients and have allowed most of them the chance to win enough money to pay for the football service this fall. This is just another example of why signing up with me is truly the best way to make money betting on sports. I will help you look at sports gambling in a totally different way. Not to mention my clients sports betting accounts are beating EVERY other investment account they have.

Have a great week.

LEFT VEGAS FOR SUNNY FLORIDA

I left Vegas last Sunday after a brutal trip and flew to meet my family in WPB,Florida.

Vegas Recap-My friends give me crap because it seems like I always do pretty well when I go to Vegas. I am the only one they have ever seen hit 3 of a kind in 3 card poker while teaching someone how to play the game. It is true I am a very lucky person and have had a lot of success with the "luck"games as well as the things I have a great chance to make money at (sports book and poker) but sometimes it does go bad for me. For 5 days last week I lost at everything I did. I would play a session of poker and lose 3k. I would bet 200.00 on 4 horse races and return 0.00. I would play blackjack and lose the  money I bought in with and have the 50 year old Roman waitress spill a bloody mary on me! I dont tr ink and the one thing I really didnt need was spicy tomato juice spoiled on me! I felt a little like Clark Griswald in Vegas vacation. It is hard for me to complain because I love Vegas and have made a lot of money there over the years but sometimes ROger Federer loses at Wembeldon and I lose in Vegas.

Florida intro- I am here on a business/vacation trip for a couple of weeks. I have a lot of elite clients down here and one of the stations that doesnt charge me for my show to run in their 6 markets is located in Florida. I am here meeting with them about the fall and talking to a couple of businesses that want to have me out in the fall for some promotions.
I am also enjoying the company of my family. I know everyone thinks their kids are funny but my daughter is truly one of the funniest people I know. She can be really loving or really mean both I find humor in.Example- As I am writing this blog she woke up with her frizzy blond hair came in the living room in her nighttime sun dress, raised it above her head, flashed me while yelling "BAM"!!!  The combination of my wife's personality and my "having a few screws loose" is going to make her life very interesting. She is only 5 but already making my life a happier place and I cant wait to see what the next 50 years bring with her.

I will be here for another week and then back for production meetings for the fall. I have already started studying for the football season and cant wait to get going. We had another winner in the free baseball selections yesterday. THose free selections have proven to be quite valuable.  Have a good weekend!

IN VEGAS-MAIN EVENT TOMORROW

I got into Vegas yesterday. Flight went OK although the 2 ladies behind me were yelling at each other the entire flight and then when we landed a girl across the isle form me started throwing up! I felt really bad for her and if you havent noticed they have stopped offering vomit bags in the seat pocket. You have to ask for them, which is hard to do while you are landing AND the vomit isnt going to wait. On second thought I made a pretty good situation out of what might be described as a BAD flight.

I went to the Rio after checking in and played in a 1030 satellite. THis is where 10 guys put in 1030.00 and the winner gets 10k.The  bad news is I flopped a set and lost to a rivered straight. The good news is I got into a 2k "last longer" with one of the only guys I beat. I then went and played 200-400 B.O.T.E. with Alan Gerring, Annon Phillipi and Chris Moneymaker. I won about 3k and decided to go to bed.

I couldnt sleep so I got up about 4AM PST and decided to go for a run on the strip. I have been working on being more healthy and headed for the strip. On my third stride I felt this pop and my calf started killing me! I turned around and limped back to the room, changed clothes and went and ate breakfast. So much for healthy. I may try riding a bike tomorrow in the health club here at the Wynn. That should be a train wreck.

One more note, I told you yesterday about Brant Hals. He got 23rd and made 28k so I made a bit and am going to back him in the main event so I can now cheer for me and Brant.
2-0 in baseball yesterday helped the total money won and am excited about a big day. I will try and update you tomorrow.
