WENT AND SAW WALL E... WHAT THE F*@& IS THAT ???

I am getting ready to leave tomorrow for the World Series of Poker Main Event and I thought it would be nice to do something with the kids today before I go. I  decided to take them to the movies. I wanted to see The Guru, my son wanted to see The Hulk but as usual my daughter won and we ended up seeing Wall-e. I am still not sure what the hell I saw? I heard that it was the #1 movie in the country last weekend but I am not sure how. There was very little talking and it was about a robot and a bunch of fat people on a space ship!  If it wasnt a cartoon and made by Pixar I am sure it would be voted one of the worst movies of the year! Dont go see it!!! If you are one of those that loved it for the "social message" SPARE ME!  I am all for being responsible about the environment but not in a cartoon. What ever happened to the "crying Indian" on the side of the highway when someone wanted to make a point about that stuff!

Just a side note to my trip to Vegas tomorrow. I am friends with a lot of poker players and am asked if I want to "financially back" people all the time. I NEVER say yes, mainly because I dont want to put my money on anyone that I dont think is better than me. However, I have a friend that I have been thinking about backing for a while now and I finally decided to get on his bandwagon. I bought 2500.00 of his 10k entry into the 10k PLO World Championship (WSOP event 50) that started yesterday. I get 15% of whatever he wins. They started with about 350 players and are down to 80. His name is Brant Hale and he is currently in 6th place. He is one of the few " great" poker players around and a really nice guy. Good luck to him today. I will try and keep you updated on my tournament and I will let you know if Brant closes the deal. Have a good week.

JUST WONDERING

I have had some time to relax over the last couple of days after 2 very busy weeks. I have been thinking about a few things.

1. Why is it that there is nothing to watch on TV in the summer.  I understand the shows have to take a break but you would think their would be some new shows the stations might want to try. I watched " I survived a Japanese Game Show" last week and I had to turn it off. I am all for the reality shows but the shows seem to be getting more extreme and in turn are getting bigger idiots because they are the only ones that will go on these shows. I come into contact with people every day that would be great to follow with a camera. You wouldn't have to "make them do anything" just turn on the camera and get out of the way.  I am looking forward to the fall TV season.

2. I have started running. I ran yesterday for about 20 min and again today for about 25 min.   I gained 3 lbs @!!!!  I am a little pissed off that I finally decided to lose some weight and the first thing that happens is that I go over 285!

3. They are raising the price of electric in Oklahoma. They are saying it is because of the rising cost of "everything" and they are passing the costs on to the consumer. Well, the last time I checked I didn't have a lot of options in who I will get my electric from. It isn't like the electric company is going broke! I would think they could leave the rates the same and JUST MAKE A LITTLE LESS!

Don't get me wrong, I am in a good place right now. I have already started working on the fall and am very excited about football season. I just had a few things I was thinking about and wanted to pass them on.

Poker Story from last week- I was playing 25-50-100 PLO with a 10k buy-in. I had A-10-10-5. The flop was K-10-3. There were 5 players that called before the flop that had all called 200.00 (1k total in the pot) The guy to my right bet 1k. I called. The guy to my left raised 4k, my right raised all in and so I called to put 38k in the pot.  I felt pretty good with middle set but probably would have folded if there weren't 31k in the pot before I called. Seat 1 turned over K-K and the other guy turned over Q-J for an open ended straight. the turn and river both missed and I was down 10k.  BAD BEAT!!!
It is pretty rare that you would flop "set over set" in a game like that but that is why they call it gambling. Don't worry, the poker stories get a bit better as the week went along. I will try and have another entry before I return to Vegas on Tuesday. Stay Cool.

NOTE- we played ARIZONA AND ST LOUIS TODAY IN THE BASES.  FREE TO ALL HOOPS GUYS THAT WANTED THEM. MEMBERSHIP HAS ITS PRIVILEGES!

2 WEEKS OF MAYHEM

Time flys when you are in the middle of mayhem. I normally do a better job of keeping this blog up to date but the last 2 weeks have been very busy.

First, I went to Vegas for the World Series of Poker. The events run for around 40 days leading up to the main event that starts next Thursday. I started the trip by losing 25k in the first 12 hours but rallied by winning a pot for 28k and another for 34k in about 20 min. That helped me make a little money and I also won my way into the main event so I will be returning on Tuesday.

Then, I came back Friday for my 20 year high school reunion. I went to a large high school( Norman High Class of '88) and I was lucky that their werent a lot of clicks even then. I played sports, football baseball ect, but had lots of friends in different groups. This made the reunion a lot of fun. I had heard that by the 20th most of the bragging and stuff was gone and that was true. I will tell you I was surprised by the vast difference in peoples appearance. There were some that looked like they might still be in high school and others that looked older than my parents. We played golf and spent a lot of time talking about the old days. I want to thank all of the people from that time of my life that helped make me who I am today. I have been blessed to be a part of your lives.

Caytie has been taking a summer camp at the local theater. Today is the performance. The play is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I am not sure but I think she is an oompa loompa. She does get to sing so it should be great.

Jacks baseball is over. THANK GOD!!  I will never complain about soccer again. Baseball was like watching apes play at the zoo. The only good things were that he had a great time and the coaches were a great group of parents that made it as fun as possible.

I am glad the NBA is over. I need a break and am very excited about the fall. I had a good football season last year including 2 months of over 68% winners. If I can do that the entire season it is going to be a GREAT fall. I am already looking at a couple of games that I think will be great spots to make some money. I can normally tell what the lines are going to come out at well in advance and the first week could be huge if I am right.

I will check in this weekend and fill you in on a couple of poker stories and then back to Vegas on Tuesday. Have a great weekend.

BACK FOR A FEW DAYS AND GETTING READY

We are back from the Bahamas. Had a great time but as I read through my entries, I am not sure I have a lot to show for the last 2 weeks except a few lbs. This week will be filled with the NBA finals, little league and a little work for football season. The last couple of months haven't been anything to write home about as far as the service. I am around 50% over that period and picked the 8th place finisher to win the Belmont Stakes. I was way off!!  The danger with the selections this time of year is there aren't a lot of choices. We have 2 teams and 1 game, in the regular season you can pass if you don't like the match ups but this time of year its, find a winner or play nothing. Thankfully we have had a great hoops season and the last 50% run wont hurt that.

Jackson in wrapping up baseball season. It has been brutal! This is the first year of pitching and it has been a little like watching apes play each other. I forgot that even the simple things like throwing and hitting had to be learned. If I was just someone that walked up on one of our games I might think it was a group of mentally challenged or handicapped kids. All of the players have had a great time but it has been tough to watch.

It looks like I may add as many as 10 markets this football season. I have had some good talks with some program directors and may add a "weekend preview" show to some of the markets. This show would be more sports talk( with a gambling overtone) and run on Fridays. This show will help the smaller player and anyone that just likes to talk about the lines around the water cooler.

Leaving for Vegas on Sunday for the WSOP. I am feeling good about the trip and am hoping for a good run. When you play in these events, the way you feel, has a lot to do with your ultimate success.

I an 1-1 in the NBA Finals,go figure, and I like the Lakers tonight -9 1/2. Good luck and have a great week.

NOT MUCH TODAY

I am beginning to realize how little I do on vacation. Today, I ate twice and played with the kids. I did forget to tell you I ate 86 oranges in the month of May. Seriously. I am the type of eater that gets focused on something and then eats it until I am sick of it. My wife is the one that notified me that I may want to check with Guinness to see what the record is. Not sure about the record but it really wasn't that tough to average 3 oranges a day for the month.

I did work a bit today. Had a meeting and a phone call for expanding my show into some new markets. I am in my 7th season of the Fat Jack Sports Hour and it is nice to have some markets appreciate my show and want to have me on without paying a lot of money. Today the program director said he liked my honesty and the fact I was able to win. We are adding some exciting markets in the fall and a new show to some areas. Stay tuned for more info on that.

Eric Lindgrin won his first WSOP bracelet today. I am friends with Jennifer Harmon and have met Eric a few times thru her. He is a really nice guy and one of the few players on the poker circuit I would actually hang out with if I was touring.Congrats to him.

NBA Finals start tonight. I like the Lakers in  games. I think each team will win on the road and in the end the Lakers will take home the championship. It is hard for me to look at Kobe Bryant and not think of him being a rapist but he is a great player.

Moving from our condo to the Four Seasons tomorrow. Have a great weekend.

WEDNESDAY VACATION

Today we had a slow day. I think I gained about 5 lbs today. We went and purchased some  gourmet chocolate popcorn I am sure it is not good for me but I ate the whole box for breakfast. We  then headed off to see Iron Man. It was great, one of the best movies I have seen all year. Finished the day at the beach with my kids and Caytie had one of her classic meltdowns! These events use to happen daily when she was younger but are not as frequent as she is getting older. Here is how one of these events goes down..

Starts with a "kodak moment" kids playing on the beach. THen something is said. Normally by my son but it could be anyone. Today it was me here is the official transcript from the beach

DAD-"Caytie,try and not get your shorts wet."

CAYTIE- "why not?"

DAD-"because I said so AND I dont want to have to carry you back to the room."

CAYTIE-" you wont have to carry me, I am a big girl."

She then begin walking into the ocean.

I grabbed her arm and said "big girls do what their daddys ask them to do!!"

She begin to cry and I picked my baby up and carried her back to the room.

WASHINGTON and MINNESOTA tonight in the bases. NBA Finals start tomorrow.

Another bracelets given away at me WSOP and I am still here carrying crying children. Oh well, a great day and more to come.

TUESDAY VACATION AND BASEBALL

TUESDAY VCATION

I started my day with Caytie Ross telling me she loved my big belly. Is it me or do you always feel fatter when you are on vacation. We went and painted a birdhouse at the craft center. It feels like I am starting every day as if I was an inmate in the movie One Flew Over the Cookoos Nest.Crafts are very therapeutic. We then went swimming in the ocean where I got a mermaid spa mask from my 5 year old girl. Only cost me 100.00 in play money. I went to the dog track this afternoon for a bit of "alone time" and played some poker. Florida poker is a joke and I dont  have enough time to tell you all the problems. I sat next to this idiot that thought he was Kenny Rogers(the gambler) and made me wish I was back with the kids. I did hit a trifecta  for 1600.00 so it wasn't a total waste. Going for Mexican food tonight and then probably ice cream. I wouldnt want to lose that fatty feeling I have vacationed so hard to get.

Tampa and the Mets tonight in baseball. They are free so play them at your own risk. Talk to you tomorrow.

STILL IN FLORIDA

Just back from Bahamas where I went bone fishing for the first time. I am not a fisherman and I have been told bone fish were not good to eat so I am not sure why I went. I did have a good time and caught a fish. The guide (marvin) told us on the drive to the boat that he was not married and still had his "pimp card". Look out ladies, he was a looker. He yelled at us about casting and stuff but we had fun and the ocean was beautiful.

I know a lot of you are getting ready for your summer vacations so I thought I would offer a daily entry this week and tell you about my vacation activities and get you excited about your trip.

Monday- we woke up aroud 9am, the kids and I went down and did some cafts. I looked at todays baseball games and decided not to play any games. We then went to Jupiter and rented a boat for the day. I didnt crash all day. We boated by Nick Faldo,TIger Woods, Celine Deon and Greg Normans house. They all have nice cribs. Came back to the condo in West Palm Beach and had hotdogs for dinner.

I am geting really excited about the World Series of Poker. THe events started this week and I find myself wishing this trip was over so I could head to Vegas.I am still deciding how high to play in the cash games on the trip. I normally take 50k to risk on the trip but am having a good year in poker and sports so I am thinking about playing a bit higher and taking more.

NBA Finals start Thursday. I need to have a big finish. We have had a great hoops season but I have struggled the last couple of weeks.

I will check in tomorrow and let you know whats up.
